No one said you weren't. What Sontaku did say is that you are not funny. What I mean by coddling is that we aren't going to play along with you when you're acting out. I'm not implying that you need or want us to, either.

To be clear, the only two things that we have said are that we don't think you're funny and we won't play along. Please take that literally.

Kiel said he wasn't funny, to which he replied he wasn't trying to be.
You said you wouldn't coddle him, he said he didn't need to be.

There didn't seem to be the need for your clarification, and I think your comment makes you sound inflammatory.

He is trying to be funny. I'm not taking that at face value. When someone acts like that and says that they're not trying to be funny, what they're doing is trying to be funny without owning up to the fact that some people don't appreciate their humor.

My clarification was quite necessary. When he said "pffft, who needs coddling", it had a pinge of self-righteousness. That kind of response would have been appropriate if I had said something as condescending as "we'll wear kid gloves to make sure that everyone gets along". His response indicates that he took what I said for something which I didn't-- hence the clarification.

Actually due to the fact that Jason has known me for hmmm what is it...8 years now. He knows how me actions are...and the reasons behind them. Now, if you would like for me to be serious I'm pretty sure you wouldn't like me. I'm much easier to get along with when I'm being happy. Soooo with your clarity it seems to just fog things up more...it's like using windex but then not wiping it all the way away...Soooo next time, until we get to know someone...let's be shhhhhh about assuming what actions they are taking.

Post  TSMelvin Mon Feb 09, 2009 6:46 pm

How's about no? How's about we think for just a minute that your actions are a reliable indicator of your personality? Let's think that maybe I've known people like you before. How's about we just accept the way we truly are might be annoying to other people and that asserting that anyone who doesn't like you just doesn't understand you doesn't help at all?

I've got nothing against you being happy. It's your ironic, crazed, pseudo-random humor that I don't take well to. Perhaps I would like you if you were serious. How would you know any differently? Oh, wait... I've done this with people before. They set up a straw man. 'You wouldn't like me if I changed the behavior that you don't like', so they inseparably link the absence of that behavior to being intentionally and aggressively abrasive. I'm not saying that you would, but I want you to know that that tactic will get you nowhere if you did.

Also, this isn't about Jason. Perhaps the eight years that he's known you has made him more permissive of your antics than some other people might be reasonably expected to be.

Also, explain how my clarification fogged things up more. What exactly did I obfuscate, or are you just trying to say that you're right for no reason and that I'm the one who's dancing around with tired, old rhetoric?

It's interesting really. Assumptions and catergorizing the human nature. Isn't it fun to feel as though we believe that each person can be put into a catergory that we think fits them. It's easy when we don't know someone to place them in a catergory we see fit. Ooooh and if you don't take well with how I am and the personality that I have, then isn't it a grand idea to just ignore the posts that I place? Or do you find this envigorating?

And I only mentioned Jason because he understands the history of what has made me me. And actually he's not permissive of me actions...if you read more topics you'd see him tell me that he hates me, him calling me a bastard. He's a champ really.

By the way...to assume that we know how someone is, is to just make an ass out of u...and me...sooo next time try to be careful with assumptions. From what I learned in the Academy...most of them are just ways of claiming yourself to be correct. Seeing yourself as..."self rightous"

Now How's about...wait that's not very nice of me...that would be me assuming something. That would be very hippo-critical. hmhm.

    Toodles.

I'm sure it's also fun to be an aloof jackass while someone's being serious. If you weren't so easily categorized, you wouldn't be fitting inside the box so well. I know what you're doing. It's not working on me. You're going to make a big show (maybe not now that I've preempted it) about how I'm just a curmudgeon that doesn't understand people or you in particular. You need to know that the bigger-man tactic will not help you. By the way, if ignoring is such a solution, why don't you just ignore me?

It might help if your next post isn't basically the 'I'm rubber, you're glue' argument.

Alright really? I'm sick of hearing you two go back and forth about this. Maybe if both of you would put on your big boy pants and pull your heads out of your asses then maybe you would see that this is pointless. There is no need for this shit. It's redundant and doesn't really need to be said. Ok yes he's random and yes you find it annoying. So what? Really who cares. People piss people off all the time. There is no need for a two page battle to figure out who can make the ass out of who. It doesn't matter who thinks who is right. SO KNOCK IT THE FUCK OFF!
